1st Annual Juried Exhibition

Makers Alley’s 1st Annual Juried Art, Artisan, and Craft Exhibition was held October 25 – November 9 of 2020. Over 140 artworks were exhibited in 3 locations in Frenchtown, NJ and online.

The in-person exhibition was held at 29 Race Street, 11 Kingwood Avenue, and 4 Kingwood Avenue. These locations – all within a one minute walk of each other – were made possible by our location partners Frenchtown Home and Hardware, Landow15, and Oasis Architecture. The exhibition was juried by Dana Stewart, Paul Steinbeiser, Chaz Hampton, Wendy Gordon, and Harry Gordon. Thank you jurors for lending your considerable knowledge to this exhibition! A special thanks also goes out to our resident neighbors in and around Frenchtown – and our River Arts Creatives partners who have all been truly supportive.

Of the many fantastic entries to our First Annual Juried Exhibiton, the jurors selected 12 artworks to receive a “Jurors’ Choice” distinction.

About the Jurors

Chaz Hampton

Easton, PA artist, designer, and gallerist Chaz Hampton established the Brick + Mortar Art Gallery and Design Studio in 2015.  Brick + Mortar Gallery has established itself as a vanguard contemporary art gallery in the region.  The design/build studio focuses on interior design elements, spacial design, and brand work.  Consumed with a passion to make, Chaz can be found most days creating in his studio at the Silk Mill in Easton.

Dana Stewart

Born and raised in California, Dana Stewart developed a keen interest in art, animals and surfing.  His wildly fanciful characterizations of the animal and human form challenge viewers of his sculpture work to find the mystifying delight captured within.
Operating his own commercial casting facility called Stewart Sculpture Casting in Lambertville, NJ where he produces his sculptures in bronze and provides the service to many other artists.

Wendy Wilkinson Gordon

Sculptor Wendy Wilkinson Gordon works in a wide range of mediums including wire, wood, resins, paper, brass and recently chain-mail. As a prize-winning sculptor, she started making wood furniture in high school and spent time in Florence studying wood-working before transferring to Syracuse University. She began her artistic career at the Johnson Atelier foundry in Princeton, New Jersey. Today, working in her Lambertville home studio, Wendy continues to experiment with a wide variety of materials.
Wendy brings an intention and consciousness to her sculptures reflecting what she sees in nature and changes in the world.

Harry Gordon

Harry has chosen traditional, ancient mediums with which to express himself. He tries to not manipulate materials beyond their natural state but imbibe them with an expression of dignity and grandeur to release their spirit.

Paul Steinbeiser

Paul is an artist, landscape designer, and organizer of the HOBART: Art in the Native Landscape exhibitions.
